Herman Story - Chelle Mountain | Behind The Scenes

Back in 2014 I met the dudes in Vinejoy as I was about to begin my journey west to LA to dive deeper into a directing career. I met Russell P From at a Vineyjoy event in Chicago, and over the years we have stayed in touch, and Russell has a been a major source of inspiration for my own career.

Within moments of meeting Russell it becomes clear his passion for his craft and his wines is evident, and I always have admired his ability to create art with Herman Story while also balancing his work and home life.

He has built a community of likeminded creators around him, and he encourages those who work with him at Herman Story to make their own wines. He’s cultivated an environment filled with great food and wine, laughter, humility, creativity and personal growth and development. It’s remarkable to see in a business often riddled with pretentiousness and superficiality.

Russell reached out a few months ago before Covid19, about doing a video for his Chelle mountain cabernet. An exclusive wine that was grown on property Russell purchased in 2014 when we filmed our initial video around his lifestyle. A lot has changed since then and very little has changed. His process seems to still be the same, a natural extension of his lifestyle. The property is magical and visually stunning. And I can see why he gravitates to it, and how its magic would be imparted into his absolute out of control wines.

We shot for 5 days straight, catching candid moments with all found light, and a minimal production footprint. Creating candid and natural moments, capturing my friends in their own element.

I am very excited to create a series of short docu driven ads for his products filled with interesting insights, philosophies, and stunning visuals. Stayed tuned over the next few months as the releases slowly pour out.
